A description of the works of Damiano, Ruy Lopez and Salvio is followed by extensive extracts from each, translated and arranged with remarks, observations and copious notes by Sarratt. Also included is a 13 page article on playing without seeing the board, chiefly taken from Damiano.
It is generally agreed that Sarratt did a poor job in translating these early chess authors, however he did bring these classic works to the attention of English readers for the first time. £120
